Kristupas Kolumbas buvo lietuvių kilmes!

posted Feb 14, 2012 11:59 AM by Gintar Ivashko   [ updated Feb 15, 2012 11:01 AM ]

Lith (Eng and Pol follows):

Kotryna ant Sinajaus kalno - isigijo dvara Madalena do Mar Portugalijos Madeiros saloje, kurį jam dave Prince Henry the Sailor. Čia jis vede, turejo sūnų ir mire jūroje turedamas 40 metų [2].

* Eng: There are also theories that Christopher Columbus was the son of Polish-Lithuanian king Władysław III Jagiellonczyk, who survived the battle of Varna in 1444 and took up residence on the Portuguese island of Madeira. Information about Columbus's Polish-Lithuanian roots in his book " COLÓN: La Historia Nunca Contada " published the Portuguese historian Manuel da Silva Rosa of the U.S. Duke University. The author has requested to the Wawel Cathedral opportunity to explore the remains of his Lithuanian father King Wladyslaw Jagiello (Jogaila-Lithuanian) to compare DNA with the genetic code of Columbus.[1]
Portuguese legend has it that King survived the battle of Varna, by then under the name of Henrique Alemao - Knight of St. John. Catherine on Mount Sinai - to settle the estate of Madalena do Mar on the Portuguese Madeira, which he had been given by the Prince Henry the Sailor. There he was to marry, had a son and died at sea at the age of 40. [2].

That probably why Lithuanian flag is always in the center of Rockefeller Plaza next to American flag:
